Jazz Portraits, a five-piece jazz ensemble, presents a repertoire of jazz classics by composers such as Duke Ellington and Thelonious Monk, choice standards by great American songwriters like Cole Porter and George Gershwin, Bossa Novas, the Blues, as well as original music by band members. The group, consisting of trumpet, saxophone, piano, bass and drums, has performed at the Sioux Falls Jazz Festival, has been featured on South Dakota Public Radio, and has recently released a new CD of jazz standards and originals.

The members of Jazz Portraits have extensive performance credentials throughout the Midwest. In addition, the group has a strong background in education, with several of the members also working as professional educators with students in grades 5-12 and at the university level. Serious inquiries may contact us for a sample CD or to have mp3 samples emailed.

Technical requirements: Access to electricity required for performances.

Fee structure: Members of Jazz Portraits are available for workshops and masterclasses with young jazz musicians. Fee is $200-600. SDAC support up to 50%.
