MELANIE LIEN PALM
Melanie Lien Palm is grateful to have been born and raised in Rapid City, SD. Her professional dance performance career spanned twenty years in eleven countries throughout North America, Europe and Asia. She has been a choreographer and dance and movement teacher for nearly as long, working with students in venues as diverse as Tisch School of the Arts in New York City and School for the Visually Impaired in Aberdeen. Many of her favorite performances have been watching students dance through the Artist in Schools program across South Dakota. Melanie’s residencies focus on creative dance where each student brings a unique and valuable quality to the experience. If requested, she can also provide additional focus on ballet, modern dance or yoga for students or teachers. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of music, including international cultures and languages. Teacher in-service sessions are available for incorporating dance into the classroom to support core academics. Curricula can be involved in the residency with a lecture demonstration and performance possible, while still keeping the focus process oriented.
