Amber Zora

Since the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic she has been teaching watercolor and sumi-e ink courses online to other military veterans and art enthusiasts across the United States. She has also taught digital and darkroom photography at the university level.

Amber enjoys working with watercolors and inks because the medium is portable, lightweight, easy to store, can be inexpensive and it is also a vast practice with much history to explore.

Amber received her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography + Integrated Media from Ohio University. She has worked at a variety of art spaces before deciding to focus on her own art business.

Amber has exhibited her work in local and national galleries including the San Francisco Arts Commission, the Las Vegas Contemporary Art Center and the National Veterans Art Museum, among other notable spaces.

Amber's residency programs can include:
Using watercolors to observe the natural world. (Building a color wheel, brush + water control, observation of plants and nature, creating watercolor backgrounds + washes, graphite transfers of a landscape onto watercolor paper)
Sumi Ink lines and storytelling (Water control to create different tones, brush control, positive and negative space, gestalt theory, creation of a one-page comic)
Digital Photography Basics. (Learning composition and photography basics, using an editing suite, digital manipulation and digital printing)
